Monotype with acrylics
Learn how to make a one-of-a-kind print, using acrylics, without a press. Direct and expressive, monotype joins the radiant qualities of prints with the spontaneity of painting. The pressure of printing creates a texture not possible when painting directly on paper. Monotype is a simple printmaking technique that gives exciting results, particularly in the texture of the printed surface. It is an ideal base for a mixed media composition. All materials provided but artists are encouraged to bring surfaces of their choosing to experiment with.

The Golden Acrylic lecture is a fun, fast-paced, informative two hour lecture covering basic technical and application subjects which will help any painter. This workshop will teach you the fundamentals of working with acrylic paints and will explain the various mediums and how they work. You will learn about acrylic gels, which allow you to modify your paint in infinite ways and to personalize your creative expression. Pigments and their unique properties, color-mixing tips, proper grounds, and varnishing will all be addressed. Learn how to get more out of your painting and master your materials! Free literature packet and samples.

EAFA's "Celebration of the Arts" in Action!

May is one of the busiest months of the year.
The number of overlapping events and obligations is staggering!

The fabulous art show at Trilogy got off to a great start.
Best of Show was Elaine Wilk with “I dare you” an Acrylic Collage.
The Show will be running through June 9th.
Please come and see - it is quite a treat.

This illustration is "Whose Shoes?" A Prismacolor® pencil portrait which was accepted in the show and done by… well…ME.

A committee is also currently laying out the base plan for Newcastle Days.
It is actually beginning to look real!

Be patient, Summer is nearly here.

Pacific Gallery Artists

Almost neglected to mention the PGA ART 57th Annual Exhibition in Tacoma.

It is being held at the Bronze Works Gallery (which is also a "studio/shop")
2506 South Fawcett, Tacoma 98402.

The show will run until June 9th.

Of course, I am biased... I have two pieces that were accepted.
Including one of my Cat Ladies, shown here, titled; Taken Aback.

Another entertaining factor was the manner in which the exhibition was placed amid the display of bronze sculpture. Breathtaking!

May Spots to Consider

Here are some engaging sites to look into for May and beyond:
http://www.belltowerart.com
-an entertaining Port Townsend Gallery (interested in children’s work samples for their son, Everett’s page of the site) "down to earth" family warmth!

For "the artistically thriving city" of Tacoma: http://www.artoncenter.com
Barbara DePirro will be doing a 2 day workshop scheduled at Art on Center, May 20 & 21, Textile painting with acrylics. For those of you new to Art on Center, Catherine and David have quite a happenin place. Not only do they offer a range of workshops but be sure to check out their monthly exhibits!

And for an entertaining point - always to my interest (and through Girl Scouts – to my heart!)
Everett, another city blossoming artistically, right in Snohomish county!
Barbara will be teaching a 1 day, Art of Recycling workshop, May 27 at the Arts Council of Snohomish Art Annex. This workshop will not only explore a whole range of projects using recycled plastic and paper, but it will open your eyes to a whole new spectrum of art materials!
Then to top it off…..this workshop coincides with an amazing exhibit, ‘The Art of Recycling’ !
She got a preview while dropping off her work and claims that it is Fabulous!
Plus…..while you’re there be sure to wander into the Gallery store, creativity is everywhere!
